Common Procurement System | ||
The goal for the CPS was to put a graphical user interface on an old but very powerful mainframe system. There was also the need to update and access a number of other systems that were currently being updated manually. This front-end eliminated the need for redundant data entry or manual multi-system lookups. |
||
The host screen, shown here, crammed as much information as possible into a small space. In the graphical user interface, shown above, we could rearrange fields and group information with more concern for ease of use than was previously possible with the text only screens. |
Expense Reports | ||
A major need at John Deere was met by utilizing the power of the company's "big iron" and providing cross platform access with Netscape's 2.0 browser as the user interface. Everyone at John Deere Waterloo Works has access to the Expense Reports system. Phyllis Michaelides designed this project from the beginning to use the mainframe for the back-end and Netscape's browser for the front-end. |
